The Cortland County Legislature and the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) approved a funding opportunity for municipalities, community organizations, not-for-profits and/or faith-based organizations to provide meeting places, activities, services and outreach for the County’s aging adult population. This Cortland County grant program is known by the acronym LASS (Local Aging Adult Satellite for Services).
1) is there a deadline on grant application submission?
Yes, September 17, 2021 by 3:00 p.m.
2)What is the lower age to be considered "senior citizen" under this program?
60 for participant; however, if a caregiver is supporting someone 60 and over, that caregiver can receive services in connection to the person under his/her care.
3) Is the Tier 2 grant money for a 2 year commitment or for one year but made in 2 payments?
The dollar amount represents a 2 year funding cycle, Since we are starting this initial grant late ( i.e. September 1, 2021 through December 2022) the grant award is for the entire 16 month period for either Tier I or Tier II. The proposed plan is to forward up to one-third of the total grant monies to applicants who are awarded grants to avoid any cash flow issues. Those issues and the exact amount to be awarded for each Tier are discussed in the grant application.
Starting in January 2023, the grant cycle is projected to run approximately 2 full years from January 2023 through to December 2024. Final decisions about the future grants and monies will not be made until next year.
