Notaries

A Notary Public performs various functions including, but limited to, administering oaths and affirmations, taking affidavits and statutory declarations, witnessing and authenticating the execution of certain classes of documents, taking acknowledgments of deeds and other conveyances and performing certain other offices acts.
 
The Cortland County Clerk processes the necessary forms for notaries after their appointment by the NYS Secretary of State, maintains records of all notaries and validates notary signatures upon request. One must be eighteen years or older and reside in NYS to become a Notary Public. View more information on exams and schedules.
