Workshops
The Cortland Works Career Center offers a variety of workshops to assist you with your job search and help you reach career goals. Check out the workshop descriptions and register for the sessions that meet your needs. The current list of workshops offered this month can be found on the Calendar (PDF) page.
Instructions for Attending the Workshops
- Check the Calendar page for this month's current workshops.
- Please call 607-756-7585 to reserve your spot in the workshop(s) of your choice.
- If you cannot attend your selected workshop, please call to cancel or reschedule.
- All workshops are located at Cortland Works Career Center, 99 Main Street, Cortland, NY.

Workshop Descriptions
Basic Computer/Basic Email Workshop
A hands-on workshop for those people lacking experience using a computer. Learn skills such as basic mouse movements and keyboarding. Create an email address and learn how to use your account. You will also learn how to upload a resume to your email account. Hired Over 40
Are you a job seeker over the age of 40 and worried about age getting in the way of a new career? Learn how to highlight the skills you bring to an employer and how to demonstrate that you have what it takes to get the job done.
Interviewing Skills Workshop
Are you nervous about interviewing or wonder what exactly an employer might ask? Would you like more confidence before the interview process? Learn techniques that will help you succeed at interviews and increase your confidence.Networking

Social Media Workshop

Job search has changed and employers expect applicants to apply on line. Do youwant to learn what the employer is looking for and how to make your application the one they pick? Attend this workshop and learn to complete an online application to increase your employment prospects.
Resume Workshop
Make sure your resume is noticed. Learn effective formats for resumes, cover letters, and thank-you notes. Learn the do’s and don’ts of resumes. The goal of this workshop is to give you the tools to create, revise, and continually update your resume.Time for a New Start
Do you need ideas for your job search? Do you want to learn more about available services that you may be eligible for? At this workshop, you will get information to assist you in developing a job search strategy, to create your own employment plan, and to review some of the many job searching options and websites that are available to job seekers today.
Adult Literacy Workshops
Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 12:30 - 3:30p.m. Drop in for an open session with a certified teacher who will assist in TASC preparation, basic skills proficiency and general literacy assistance. These workshops are offered in cooperation with OCM BOCES.
