Communicable Disease Program

Environmental Health assists in the prevention and control of diseases through surveillance, investigations, interventions and education. The Division targets diseases that can be spread through environmental factors such as water, food, and vectors.
  1. Lyme Disease & Other Vector-Borne Diseases

  2. Outbreak Investigations

    Investigations are conducted when 3 or more people are ill due to food or water exposures.

  3. Rabies Control & Response

    Responsible for the management of possible rabies exposures. Activities include the submittal of rabies samples, ensuring proper human post-exposure treatment, and providing countywide pet rabies clinics.

  4. West Nile Virus (WNV)

    The West Nile virus is a mosquito-borne infection that can cause flu-like symptoms and in rare cases can cause encephalitis (inflammation of the brain).
