Committee Present: John Steger, Chairman; Tom Hartnett, Steve Dafoe, Danny Ross, Mike McKee, Dan Tagliente, Paul Allen

Others Present: Scott Steve, Legislative Chairman; Scott Schrader, County Administrator; Angie Wyatt, Secretary to Scott Schrader; Brian Parker, Superintendent of Buildings & Grounds; Dave Wern, Legislator

The meeting was called to order by John Steger, Chairman at 8:36a.m.

MOTION MADE BY MIKE MCKEE – 2ND BY TOM HARTNETT TO ACCEPT THE MINUTES FROM THE MARCH 30, 2004 MEETING – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR.

RESOLUTIONS

 

  1. Authorize Agreement – Penn Power (Buildings & Grounds): MOTION BY STEVE DAFOE – 2ND BY DANNY ROSS – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR – PASSED

Justification: This agreement is for the maintenance on the two generators (one at the Courthouse and one in the County Office Building). Brian Parker indicated that there is money in the budget and that Penn Power has accepted our contract format and they have already signed the agreement and sent it to us.

DISCUSSIONS/PRESENTATIONS

 

  1. Use of Auditorium: Cortland Repertory Theater has requested the use of the auditorium on 2 different occasions this summer to rehearse "Once Upon a Mattress" and "The Music Man". Mike McKee asked about liability issues. Scott Schrader informed the committee that CRT would be required to carry insurance to use the auditorium. MOTION BY STEVE DAFOE – 2ND BY TOM HARTNETT TO PERMIT CRT TO USE THE AUDITORIUM THE DATES AND TIMES REQUESTED – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR – PASSED

2. Use of Gym: The Cortland County Mental Health Department has requested the use of the County gym on June 5, 2004 for a Countywide Health Services Fair. MOTION BY DANNY ROSS – 2ND BY MIKE MCKEE – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR TO PERMIT THE CORTLAND COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH DEPARTMENT TO USE THE GYM – PASSED.

3. Update-Dwyer Park: The heat detectors will also have smoke heads installed. Brian receive a proposal from Simplex but they will not install smoke heads on someone else’s systems. He is waiting to hear from PACS System. CRT is planning to install a sprinkler system, elevator & handicap bathroom. All this is suppose to be done before they open their season next year. CRT is doing fund raising and pursuing grants to fund these items. No county funds will be used for this.

The committee also discussed repairs to the exterior of the County Office Building and the different options.

Dan Tagliente asked about air conditioning/heating in this building. Brian Parker explained that the building has 4 zones for the air conditioning. Paul Allen and Danny Ross questioned whether a study could be done without spending a lot of money. Danny said that there is a grant available to fund 50% of an energy study.
