MOTION TO APPROVE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 2, 2005 BY PAUL ALLEN – 2ND BY MIKE MCKEE – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR – PASSED
RESOLUTIONS:
1. Create Custodian/ Amend Budget, Buildings and Grounds Department – MOTION BY MIKE MCKEE – 2ND BY DANNY ROSS – ALL VOTED IN FAVOR WITH THE FOLLOWING CHANGES: THE 3RD PARAGRAPH CHANGED TO READ "WHEREAS, THERE IS A NEED FOR ADDITIONAL CUSTODIAL SERVICES AT THE 911 DISPATCH CENTER, THE RECYCLING CENTER AND THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT" AND THE 4TH PARAGRAPH TAKEN OUT.
The Buildings & Grounds Committee authorized B & G Committee Chairman, John Steger to present a substitute Resolution to the Budget & Finance Committee should this Resolution fail to be passed. The substitute Resolution would be titled "Create Temporary Custodian/Amend Budget – Buildings & Grounds Department and the 1st RESOLVED would read: "RESOLVED, that the Cortland County Legislature hereby approves the creation of one (1) Temporary Custodian (Grade 5, $21,389-23,826 competitive class) on or after September 22, 2005 through December 31, 2005, AND BE IT FURTHER"
DISCUSSION/PRESENTATIONS:
Departmental Report – (Brian Parker & Tim Smith): Brian advised the Committee that a written report was not prepared because he was working on his 2006 Buildings & Grounds Budget for timely submission. Brian and Tim did however update the Committee on departmental activities and projects.
Veterans Memorial – (Tim Smith) – Tim advised the Committee that 3 bids were received to repair the Veterans Memorial at the Courthouse Park. The lowest bidder was a firm from Syracuse for the amount of $3,100.00.
Suspicious Envelope – (Scott Schrader) – Scott explained the procedures the County followed when the County Administrative Offices received the suspicious letter containing the white powder.
