Approved Minutes of Public Hearing

 2007 Tentative Budget

November 16, 2006, 6 PM

The Public Hearing was opened at 6:03 PM by Chairman Brown, followed by the Salute to the Flag.

The Clerk took Roll Call with all members recorded as present, except Ms. Breed and Mr. VanDee, absent and Mr. Willcox excused.

The Chairman read the Rules of the Hearing and asked if there were any questions regarding the rules. The Clerk read the Legal Notice as published in the Cortland Standard. Chairman Brown asked if there was anyone present that wished to speak regarding the Tentative Budget.

Mr. John Carroll of 481 Nye Road, Cortland, NY addressed his comments to one expenditure in the budget, stating that 13 Legislators voted to reduce the surplus funds by $408,000. to build a frivolous ten berth hangar on the County Airport that merely benefited 10 people of means. This expenditure, if eliminated, could cut the proposed increase in half. He shared the concerns of others in the County that he had talked to and referred to the expenditure as a raid on the surplus of taxpayers’ hard earned money.

Chairman Brown asked three times if there was anyone else who wished to speak to the Tentative Budget.  With no one else wishing to speak, the Chairman closed the Public Hearing at 6:12 PM.
