The meeting was called to order at 8:30a.m. by Chairperson, Sandy Price

Kristen Monroe
advised the Committee that Robin and Justin will be receiving a Youth of the
Year Award. It was suggested that
Robin, Justin and other teens who will be receiving the Award be invited to
the next Legislative Session for Recognition.

Area Agency on Aging - NONE
Employment & Training
Discussion: Judy Davison explained that this is a telephone agreement. The reimbursement amount would be 25.88% of all monthly telephone costs at the One Stop Career Center on Main Street. The term of the agreement is 15 months.

Challenge Trip-Foster Care- Social Services:
Two Foster Teenagers, Robin and Justin showed pictures and shared their
experiences of a recent trip that they and other Foster Teens took to a
location near Lake George. It has
a high and low ropes course. The
trip taught them to trust one another and built up their self-esteem.
Staff members from DSS accompanied the Teens on the trip.
Kristen
Monroe advised the Committee that Robin and Justin will be receiving a Youth
of the Year Award. It was
suggested that Robin, Justin and other teens who will be receiving the Award
be invited to the next Legislative Session for Recognition.
Kristen
briefly explained the Stewart Place house that DSS has taken.
Employment and Training-Grant Administration:
Judy
Davison advised the Committee that they have another grant opportunity for a
Regional Work Force Grant. Judy
further advised the Committee that the rental agreement is coming to an end at
the end of the year.
Veterans:
Carl
Bullock’s new secretary, Theresa Little started working.
They are presently using the Personnel Conference room while Buildings
and Grounds staff remodel the Veterans Office.
Committee Members:
Carol
Tytler advised the Committee that Albany is gearing up for the Census in 2010.
She encouraged the County to help identify where people are.
It is to the County’s advantage because the census is the driving
force that determines state and federal representation.
Everyone has to be counted.
The
meeting adjourned at 9:10a.m.
