***Applying for the “Special Pedestrian Safety in the Neighborhood of Route 13 and Starr Road” Grant was an outcome of the Tompkins Street Traffic Safety Project Team. Members of the Team identified public education regarding the responsibilities as pedestrians to be of significant importance in attempting to address pedestrian error, cited as a causative factor in all the of fatal accidents. The Cortland County Traffic Safety Board has partnered with the Cortland County Sheriff’s Department and the Cortland County Health Department to bring pedestrian safety programs to the schools, businesses and residents in the area.
The final report of the Tompkins Street Traffic Safety
Project Team was released on May 9, 2006 at a Press Conference at the
Cortlandville Town Board Offices. The
report will be available for review after June 1, 2006 on the Cortland County
