There is an added component for the STEP grant.  “Safe Stop Day” School Bus Safety has been moved to March for 2007.  The exact date will be announced at a later date.  Agencies CAN use overtime for this detail.  It is recommended that all shifts be utilized through out the day for this detail.  Agencies participating in this detail MUST have their reports and numbers to GTSC within 14 calendar days to receive reimbursement when vouchers are submitted.  Reports will be required even if not tickets are issued.

Brad also advised the Board and visitors that data has been updated to include 2002-2004 and can be found on the forms page of the GTSC website.

Angie Wyatt asked the grantees that are currently receiving grant funds to give a brief overview of their grants.  Deputy Chief Mike Catalano (City of Cortland PD), Officer Bill Bracken (Sheriff’s Department), Officer Mike Toomey (SUNY-Cortland Police), Executive Director Syd McEvoy (Cornell Cooperative Extension of Cortland County) and Health Educator Suzanne Parson (Cortland County Health Department) spoke about their respective traffic safety grants.

Angie informed the Board and visitors that pursuant to the Cortland County Traffic Safety Board By-laws, Vice Chairman, Eric Mulvihill would be chairing the Grants Committee.  Eric will be appointing members to the Grant Committee within the next couple of days and the Committee will meet with prospective agency representatives next Monday, March 13, 2006 at 1:30p.m. in Room 302 of the County Office Building.

·        Brief update:  Traffic Situation -  Route 13  Tompkins Street/McLean Road/Starr Road

Angie advised the Board that a group consisting of CCTSB members, New York State Police, Cortland County Sheriff’s Department, Town of Cortlandville Officials and NYS DOT Representatives are meeting and working together to try to come up with possible solutions to make this area safer.  There is another meeting scheduled this month and a more detailed report will be given to the Board at the next meeting when Captain Larry Jackmin is present.

Eric Mulvihill and Trooper Susan Lockyer indicated that National Grid was suppose to install more street lights on Tompkins Street last month but they still have not been installed.

Angie Wyatt will contact Cortlandville Town Supervisor, Dick Tupper to find out what the delay is.

Legislative Chairman, Marilyn Brown advised the Board that the County would like to paint the curbs out front at the bus stop as one of the items included in the new plan to make the Cortland Transit System less problematic.  Since Central Avenue is a City Street, City Public Safety Commission Chairman, Patrick O’Mara will have this issue included on the next Public Safety Commission agenda.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:10p.m.
