AFTER‑SCHOOL PROGRAM AIDE (P/T)

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The work involves the responsibility for assisting the After‑School Program Director in performing assigned rou­tine tasks that require the supervision and care of students.  The work is performed under the direct supervision of the After‑School Program Director.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:  (Illustrative only)

Assists the After‑School Program Director in supervising recreation periods;

Maintains order in areas used by the After‑School Program;

Performs set‑up and clean‑up of activities;

May render elementary first aid treatment;

Carries out other duties as assigned by the After‑School Program Director.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Good knowledge of policies regarding stressful discipline situations.  Abili­ty to get along well with students and command their respect; tact; patience; firmness; some knowledge of first aid methods; good judgment.  Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

None is required.  However, a demonstrated effectiveness with children is desirable.
