BOOKKEEPER TO SUPERVISOR
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Maintains a set of general books of
account for a town supervisor; does related work as required.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:
An employee in this class is responsible for accurately maintaining all financial records in the office of the town supervisor. The work involves difficult and varied account keeping tasks and computations in connection with town services and taxes. The work is performed under general supervision in accordance with prescribed procedures.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
Sets up appropriate accounts and
ledgers;
Makes entries and balances accounts
periodically;
Prepares financial reports for county,
state and federal governments;
Occasionally operates graphotype,
addressograph, or other office machines.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS:
Good knowledge of modern methods used
in keeping financial accounts and records; good knowledge of office
terminology, procedures and equipment; good knowledge of business arithmetic
and English; ability to get along with others; clerical aptitude; good judgment;
good physical condition.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Since the position of Bookkeeper to
Supervisor is in the exempt class, there are no minimum requirements. However, it is suggested that appointees be
high school graduates and have had at least two years of experience in keeping
and checking financial accounts, or have had additional training in accounting
procedures.
