PARK ATTENDANT

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The incumbent is responsible for performing routine manual work in the maintenance of the park and recreation facilities. The work is performed under the general supervision of a higher level supervisor. Does related work as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)

Performs routine grounds keeping work such as mowing lawns, planting grass, trimming shrubs, and disposing of garbage;

Performs general custodial tasks as sweeping and emptying trash containers in the office, shop, and recreation facilities;

Acts as flag person as needed.

FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Willingness to perform routine manual tasks; ability to follow oral and written instructions; willingness to work in all weather conditions; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: Possession of a valid New York State driver's license appropriate to the vehicles operated.
