DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF
THE CLASS: Performs routine manual work. The duties performed are primarily of a
manual and unskilled nature requiring physical endurance and a willingness to
perform heavy work. Constant
supervision is maintained over the work.
Does related work as required.
Typical

Flagging;
Assists in patching streets and
roads;
Rakes, tamps and shovels asphalt;
Loads and unloads trucks;
Excavates and backfills for
construction and repairs;
Cleans streets, park areas,
culverts and basins;
Cuts grass, brush and trees;
Assists in the installation and
maintenance of traffic signs and markings.

lift heavy weights; physical endurance; physical condition commensurate with
the demands of the position.
