            WADE POOL ATTENDANT

 

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS:  This position involves the responsibility for proper surveillance of a wade pool.  Since the bathers are usually young and small with little or no swimming ability, their risks are greater.  Due to the shallow water depth, the ability to swim is not necessary.

 

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)

Direct poolside supervision of the wade pool;

Use lifesaving equipment;

Control bathers and crowds;

Maintains order in a swimming/wade pool locker room;

Sweeps and cleans locker rooms and shower stalls;

Checks swimmers clothing;

May issue towels and other supplies;

Reports any acts of vandalism or disciplinary problems to superior.

 

FULL PERFORMANCE, KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:

Ability to supervise small and young bathers, ability to maintain order; ability to keep simple records; willingness to perform routine cleaning tasks; tact; courtesy; dependability; physical condition to commensurate with the demands of the position.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  None.

 

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

1.         Must be at least 18 years old.

 

2.            Possession of a current American Red Cross Community CPR certificate or American Heart Association Course "B" certificate.  The certificate period must not exceed on year.
