DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE
CLASS: This position is
responsible for maintaining and implementing the audio/ visual equipment and programs
for the
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: (Illustrative only)
·Maintains, repairs, operates and sets up all Cortland Video
Club equipment in the district to include the following:
·Head ends: routing switcher, modulators, monitors, TV sets,
line amplifiers and splitters. Makes and
repairs audio and video cables;
·Head end operations for school television channel,
scheduling and programming of routing switcher, dishes
and I-Net network;
·TV studio and all of its equipment, including wires,
lighting, audio and prompting systems;
·Editing systems, radio room and radio channel on the cable
system;
·Auditorium sound system, including audio racks, patch
panels, cassette, DVD pro decks, switcher, video amps, cameras, monitors, and
intercom systems;
·Checks and
maintains operational standards for the school cable systems. Modulates and monitors signals of cable
systems;
·Troubleshoots
district’s cable systems;
·Directs
programming for all sports, news, music and special events;
·Evaluates
and makes recommendations for the purchase of audio/video equipment as needed;
·Assists
staff in the proper use of audio/visual equipment.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL
CHARACTERISTICS: Good
knowledge of the maintenance and operation of audio and visual equipment; good
troubleshooting skills; ability to adapt purchases of new equipment to existing
equipment; ability to instruct others in the use of audio/visual equipment;
ability to work well with others; physical condition commensurate with the
demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A.
Completion of at least ninety credit hours from a
regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university towards a
bachelor’s degree in communications or broadcast engineering AND one year of
full-time paid experience or its part-time equivalent in the broadcasting
field, which must include video production and maintenance/repair of
electronic, cable, audio and video equipment; OR
B.
Completion of at least forty-five credit hours from a
regionally accredited or NYS registered college or university towards an
associate’s degree in video/audio production or video/audio equipment and
facilities engineering AND three years of full-time paid experience or its
part-time equivalent in the broadcasting field, which must include video
production and maintenance/repair of electronic, cable, audio and video
equipment; OR
C.
An equivalent combination of education and experience
as described above.
