Programs presented         by ZAP-PEERS

(Programs are intended for 4th – 8th grade. To schedule a program, contact Cindy Grey, ZAP-PEERS Coordinator at 753-5374. All programs can be tailored to meet school district guidelines.)

TALKING TO PARENTS              (4th –8th Grade)

  • Talking to parents about tough topics can be difficult. In this program, students will learn how to effectively communicate with their parents and understand what their parents are saying to them.

  • STOP THE PRESSURE               (4th – 8th Grade)

    • Peer Pressure and Bullying are not easy for students to handle, because it can happen in many situations. ZAP-PEERS will teach students how to recognize these situations and resist peer pressure and bullying. Students will also learn that there is positive peer pressure and how to use it on their friends.

    EXPLORING YOUR VALUES      (4th – 8th Grade)

    • During this program, students will explore their personal values. They will learn that many people may share their values and many may not. Students learning how to believe in their values and not be persuaded by others, is the goal of the program.

    RELATIONSHIPS                       (4th – 8th Grade)

    • ZAP-PEERS will discuss relationships and friendships and the importance of them for students. Students will be able to assess their own relationships and ensure they are in healthy relationships.

    SELF-ESTEEM & GOALS         (4th- 8th Grade)

    • Having a high self-esteem will help students make healthy choices. In this program, students will understand how important high self-esteem is and how to attain a high self-esteem. For example, setting and achieving goals is a way to develop self-esteem.

    ABSTINENCE–THE BEST PROTECTION                           (7th-8th Grade)

  • Why does abstinence have a 20% failure rate? Because teens don’t know how to use it effectively. Students will learn what it takes to be abstinent and how to avoid situations that will decrease the effectiveness of abstinence.

  • THROUGH THE EYES OF A TEEN (7th – 8th Grade)

  • This program gives a teenage perspective on issues related to teen sexuality. Topics that will be covered are teen pregnancy, myths teens believe about sex, decision-making, and negotiation.

  • GAMES – FUN! FUN! FUN!         (4th – 8th Grade)

  • "Who Wants To Be A ZAP-PEER?" and "ZAP Jeopardy" trivia games are great tools for reviewing topics taught in class. Some topics covered are birth control & STD’s. Game questions can be altered to different topics to meet the needs of the class.
