Successes and Awards

Annual Luncheon with special guest Assemblyman Marty Luster.

We would be happy to provide more details on any of these programs to other interested individuals or agencies:

In November 1999, in Denver Colorado, ZAP received the "Outstanding Prevention Program Award" presented by the National Organization of Adolescent Pregnancy, Parenting, and Prevention, Inc.

ZAP was asked to write a chapter in the National Campaign's forthcoming publication "A Guide to States and Communities Working to Prevent Teen Pregnancy" to be published by DHHS. This is a how to manual for communities attempting to prevent teen pregnancy.

In February 1997, staff from the National Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy did a site visit. ZAP is featured as a model program in their literature. 1991, the repeat teen pregnancy percentage dropped to 19 compared to 31 and 35 for 1987 and 1988 respectively.

ZAP was the only example cited in the entire State Health Dept.'s public health priorities planning document, Communities Working Together for a Healthier NY. In February 1994, we received the Certificate of Merit for the Decade of the Child presented by the governor's wife and the NY State Health Commissioner.

In June 1996, the State Health Department nominated ZAP for the DHHS Health Promotion Award.

In February 1994, we received the Certificate of Merit for the Decade of the Child presented by the governor's wife and the NY State Health Commissioner.

1991, the repeat teen pregnancy percentage dropped to 19 compared to 31 and 35 for 1987 and 1988 respectively.

Beginning with the first year of implementation in 1991, ZAP has had the lowest teen pregnancy rates in more than 20 years.

ZAP has been awarded the 1991 Leadership Award in Family Planning for the Department of Health and Human Services, Region II.
