Cortland County Redistricting

Local Law 2 of 1972 - A Local Law Reapportioning the County of Cortland provides the process by which the Cortland County Legislature must reapportion or redistrict the Cortland County legislative districts.  Pursuant to that Local Law, the Cortland County Legislature has appointed the following legislators to the Cortland County Redistricting Commission:

  • George Wagner, Chair
  • Beau Harbin, Vice-Chair
  • Kevin Fitch
  • Kelly Preston
  • Cathy Bischoff

Although the Local Law for Cortland County Reapportionment does not mandate an outlet for citizen involvement, the Cortland County Legislature believes that community involvement is necessary in the redistricting process.  For that reason, the legislature approved the creation of a Redistricting Commission Citizen’s Advisory Committee.  The members of the advisory committee are as follows:

  • City of Cortland Mayor, Scott Steve
  • Village of Homer Mayor, Hal McCabe
  • Election Commissioner, Thomas Brown
  • Election Commissioner, Robert Howe
  • Cortland County Resident, Amy Bertini
  • Cortland County Resident, Danielle Wimbish
  • Cortland County Resident, Eric Mulvihill
  • Cortland County Resident, Forrest Earl
  • Cortland County Resident, William McGovern

The Redistricting Commission approved a proposed map, which is under review by the Cortland County Planning Department.
