What Jobs are Out There?

Finding Employers

Practically speaking, the employers that are willing to hire you (if you are under 18) are usually fast food restaurants, grocery and other retail stores , and summer camps or day care centers. At our center, we maintain a file of applications of local retail businesses that are willing to hire youth. You can also look through our job books for jobs that you feel you might qualify for, or use our computers to research other job opportunities.

Career Planning

For career planning, the New York State Department of Labor is the principal source of Labor Market Information (LMI). Department of Labor staff carefully organize and package LMI so that it will be useful in making career choices, or in identifying, recruiting and retaining workers.

Employers are bound by the NYS Labor Laws governing minors.
