Planning Department Origins
In 1975, Local Law No. 3 of the Cortland County Legislature created the Department of Planning with the intent to preserve the physical beauty and natural resources of the County.
The Department serves the current and future residents of the County in many ways. They help prepare for economic development, industry growth and increases in population.
The Planning Department works closely with the 19 municipalities located within Cortland County.

The County Planning Board meets every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in the Downstairs Conference Room @ 37 Church St. Next meeting will be Wednesday, June 19th @ 6:30 p.m. Packet can be found here. The Healthy Cortland No Cost Medical Event will be held at the Homer Intermediate/Junior High School located at 58 Clinton St. Homer, NY 13077 from July 11-July 20.
